VENICE BEACH, CALIFORNIA
Venice beach was the original laid-back, artist bohemia mecca. Today it is a cultural melting pot and somewhat odd mix of celebrities, artists, back-packers, street vendors, hippies and the homeless.
The world famous Venice Beach Boardwalk is not to be missed. While you are there you can get a tattoo, workout at the gym on Muscle Beach, watch a juggler, dance in the famous Drum Circle, admire the many larger-than-life murals that adorn the alleys and apartment buildings, rent a surf board and take a lesson, go rollerblading and spot A-list celebrities.
PUERTO VIEJO, COSTA RICA
This chilled out surf town near the border of Panama is somewhat of a hidden gem although it is becoming more and more popular every year. It's beaches are still wild and unspoiled. You are sure to spot some monkeys and sloth around your hotel no matter where you stay. It is an ideal location for the adventure traveler and adrenaline junkie. Zip-lining, snorkeling and jungle tours are just some of the day trips offered here.
GILI ISLANDS, INDONESIA
The Gili Islands are 3 tiny islands off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia. Automobiles are prohibited in this lazy paradise so the preferred method of transport is by horse, foot, or bicycle. The ultra clear water and pristine white sand makes it's the perfect beach retreat. Snorkeling and diving are the activities of choice here.
IBIZA, SPAIN

TULUM, MEXICO
Tulum is only an hour and a half south of the bustling city of Cancun, but it might as well be another world away.
